Menu Monday: Sunny Typhoon Edition

So at the request of my only reader, I will be switching to posting notes on Facebook, because who the F#$% still uses friendster no? So here is the last Menu Monday or any post on friendster.

- had a great photo of an excavation site today, check my facebook weird hong kong album

- Had a fantastic party this weekend, lost my long time traveling buddy tho. My sunnies as Jackei calls them

- Looks like I'll be returning to LA July 11th, thanks to Bonnie for giving me the heads up tips, I'll be saving a good 150 USD, more burritos for me!

- The offer from HK U will be coming today. Hope it's not too terrible, I hate thinking about how much money I walked away from.

- This will also be the first note that will be posted in facebook. My transitional note as they say.

Day after Menu Monday

Forgot to write a menu monday yesterday. No make ups for it tho however i have a list of stuff to think about.

- Money vs. Social good...
- Beautiful women in Hong Kong
- maybe I should switch to Facebook blogs... Friendster is outdated

Menu Monday: In Shanghai

Past week has been A LOT of drinking. Drank Wednesday night, Thursday night, Friday night, rested Saturday, drank Sunday day. I need a break from alcohol. Also just had an hour and half session of man hands.

- Work in Shanghai this week.... not much to look forward to.

- Except Karaoke with Ben Hoague!!! He sings Jay Chou!!

Back to School

I've just been notified that I've been accepted into the Masters Program at the Hong Kong Poly U, School of Design. Excited to be back in an academic environment. However part of me feels like I'm just dodging the harsh nature of the real world.

Menu Monday

Went to grad school interview this past Friday. Let's just say it was a bit informal but not very personable. I think it went alright. It's the standard or default response for I really have no fucking clue. Well good thing is my buddy AJ got accepted so I'm slowly having more friends.

- Lakers in Finals. I'm already planning on how I'll be watching every game.

- I made a pasta dish for my cousin's birthday party yesterday. It actually went pretty well. I think I can build off of this dish now. More items, different tastes. Maybe throw in some Mexi Cali.

- I want to learn the guitar. If there's one song I have to play it's "Neon" from John Mayer

- It's raining like a mofo in Hong Kong this week. Guess it gives me another week to rest up before I get my ass kicked in tennis by a Division one player.

Menu Monday

Woke up at 8:30 AM to watch the Laker game. Not on TV anywhere in Hong Kong, so I had to throw up the Slingplayer. Problem is the IP address back in LA changed so I couldn't logg on. Went nuts for about 30 minutes over the phone with my brother and finally got the new IP address.... just to watch them lose. 3-1 after next game.

- Grad school interview coming up this friday. Thanks to some excellent critique by my mentor Bryan. I feel confident about my portfolio presentation.

- Ubiday this week so it'll be a bit slow.

- Last week a shitload of people showed up for the gathering I organized. I was only expecting 5 people. Ends up 25 people showed up. Not sure if I plan on organizing again. However I would like to find more people to go drinking with. Maybe a Margarita Thursday.

- One more week of rest before I'm allowed to play tennis again.

- When I moved back, it was friggin cold in Hong Kong so I didn't bring any short sleeves back. I knew I'd eventually just buy it. Well let's say I hit the point and now I have to go shopping. But I'm lazy.

Sports Bar in Hong Kong Suck

Woke up early in the morning to head to a sports bar to watch the game. Actually game time right now. Got my buddy Brandon to wake up and go with me. When we get there, they tell us the game is not on. I'm like you're fucking kidding me. I tell him it's also on Pearl TV (English channel in HK), He ends up being a jackass. So at the moment I'm watch the game at Brandon's apartment. Oh yeah sports commentary in HK is terrible. Unless you watch soccer... or football as they call it.

Menu Monday

Returned from Shenzhen with a bruised arm a a few holes left from needles in my body. I've had this pain in my arm for a year and an acupuncturist is taking care of it for me. The process is a bit painful, and my arm is bruised enough I can't wear cut offs but not like I had the body for it anyway.

- There's been some people in states that want me to join hk.match.com and go on dates and blog about it. Still thinking if I should, I know it would be good stories tho.

- I'm interview for Grad School on the 30th. My friends tell me not work worry, I'll make it for sure. However I think it's a good time to beef up my portfolio, also a good excuse to buy new clothes.

- It's hard finding t-shirts here that fit me. People in Hong Kong have very narrow shoulders. I'm also just fat.

- I finally set up my own thing on geoexpat. This wednesday a bunch of people will be gathering together for a quick drink. Sounds fun. I'm excited.

Been a bit tired of working...

So now that Uplay.com is up and you can see the teaser I made (shameless promo), I'm a bit tired from working. To relax myself I ended up heading over to www.geoexpat.com forums and starting giving tech advice to people. What is wrong with me?

Menu Monday: Extra Padded Edition

Been about 2 weeks since I've blogged, China blocks Friendster blogs, don't enjoy blogging when I can't read it myself. So this will be my extra padded edition, two weeks worth of "Menu Monday" all in one big bundle.

- Left for Shanghai on a Monday, the 28th of April. On that day I did something horrible to Gill.... Gill I am sorry... I owe you dinner.

- For some reason everyone says I've gotten darker. Maybe I'm finally getting the LA pigmentation back.

- Congrats.... Just wanted to say congrats to someone.

- Being in Shanghai in two weeks has really gotten me used to the idea of traveling back and forth. It's not too much of an issue me in China anymore. I can order fantastic beef noodles, awesome fried dumplings and best of all, pork jerky. I should pick some of that up in Hong Kong tomorrow.

- This also means I should be a decent Shanghai tour guide for any of you coming to visit. Just keep that in mind people.

- in a couple of days I'll finally have something I've been working on publicly shown. As I am under NDA I can't say anything but I'll let you guys know.

- I don't have the balls to bring pirated DVD's back from China so I never buy them. However what I end up doing is buy CD's rip them, I could do the same with DVD's if I wanted to. Maybe I should.

- Had a Tango. A french beer, tastes like after dinner wine mixed with beer, quite interesting. BTW i've been drinking an INSANE amount of beer in China. Why is that? 4RMB for a big bottle of beer. That's why.

- Learned from a friend this past week that North Carolina is actually a great place to live. I'm happy with Hong Kong right now.

- Just in case you were curious, my cousin Shirley and her family can really eat.. REALLY EAT.

- Stuck in an interesting dilemma. The night before I left Shanghai, which is two days ago, I went for a massage, had a great conversation with the masseuse. She was also kind enough to go grab cash with me because I didn't bring enough money for a massage. She gave me her number and told me to call her when I'm up in Shanghai again and we can hang out and she'll show me around. She's from Sizuan. If you don't know where that is, that's where the huge earthquake is. Now I'm wondering if I should give her a call and ask if her family is ok. Not sure what to do... I'll let the comments decide from this blog make the decision for me. I need feedback.
